The Windom Police Department consists of 10 sworn officers consisting of a Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, 6 Patrol Officers, Investigator, School Resource Officer and a Records Clerk. Vacancies are filled by recommendation of hire by the Chief of Police to the City Council and require their confirmation. The Police Department is located in the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center. Dispatching for the department is provided by the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office.
Windom is located in Cottonwood County, in Southwest Minnesota, and is at the intersection of Highway 60, Highway 71, and Highway 62. The 2010 Census shows Windom has a diverse and growing population of 4,646.

The City of Windom is currently accepting applications for the position of a Full-Time Police Officer. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be P.O.S.T. licensed or eligible to be licensed at the time of hire. A copy of the P.O.S.T. license or Eligibility letter must be received with the application. Applicants will be required to pass background, physical, and psychological evaluations. Starting salary is $31.02 per hour with potential of starting at a higher step.
