When will I see the video and internet rate increase on my bill?
The rate increases will be applied on the June 3, 2015 bill.
Are internet speeds changing?
High-speed Internet Lite speed will increase to 3MB effective June 1, 2015. High-speed Internet Basic will increase to 12MB effective June 1, 2015. No action is needed by the customers subscribing to those services to receive the increased speeds.
When are the new packages available?
The new Windomnet packages will be available starting on May 15, 2015 for new customers or existing customers wanting to make changes to their service.
What are the internet speeds in the new packages?
The Starter All In package is the lowest offering with 10 MB. Starter Plus at 15 MB is available for customer’s not selecting phone service. Deluxe packages feature 30MB speed and the Premium packages feature 60MB speed. All internet speeds are symmetrical.
What is All-In Voice Package
The All-In Voice Package is $30.00 (residential only) which includes unlimited long distance and selected calling features (voicemail not included). This all-inclusive voice plan is included for free if customers select any of our Data or Video offerings.
Do bundled prices include tax?
All advertised prices are pre-tax. Applicable taxes are added during billing.
As an existing customer, do I need to move into one of the new bundles?
Existing customers can keep their same service selections, however rates for data and video are increasing effective June 1, 2015.
If after the rate increase, customers would have a lower price for their services under the new package options, they will be automatically transferred to the new package.
Will I still be able to purchase/change my service under the current price structure?
The New package offerings will be available starting on May 15, 2015. At that time, the existing pricing structure will no longer be offered. If existing customers want to change service after May 15, 2015, only the new packages and pricing are available.
How will I know if I am under the old pricing?
Customers not automatically transferred to a new package will see their services labeled as “Vintage” starting on their June 3, 2015 bill.
How will I know if I have been moved to a new package?
Customers moved to a new package will receive a separate postcard mailing indicating their account has been upgraded with free long distance and calling features. Customers will be asked to select Windomnet Long Distance and desired calling features and return the postcard.
When will my selected calling features be in place?
Once customers complete and return their postcard with selected calling features, it could take up to two weeks for features to be in place.
Why does my bill show long distance charges after I select a new package including unlimited long distance?
Toll activity is billed based on usage date from the 25th of the month to the 24th of the next month. Recurring monthly fees are billed a month in advance. The first bill you receive with new package pricing will also include toll charges from previous month usage before the new package was effective. If you had a $1.99 calling plan that will also appear on your first bill in the new package.
What are symmetrical internet speeds?
Symmetrical internet connections are ones which have the same download and upload speed, and which allow these speeds to be used at the same time. Therefore, if you have a symmetrical internet connection, you will be able to upload data (such as videos or music) to the internet while you are also downloading large files.
Is voicemail included in the new phone package?
Voicemail is not a featured included in the Total Residential Phone Package. Voicemail can be added for $3.50/month.
Do I need to sign up for phone service when I purchase the data package?
You are not required to sign up for phone service; however the bundled price is the same. Customers not using phone service will not be charged taxes applicable to phone service.
What are new Business Rates?
Business Phone rates are not changing. The same bundles for Data and Video are available to business customers but Voice service is not included for business customers.
Does Unlimited Calling affect free calling areas served by Southwest Minnesota Broadband System?
Any area that is not charged toll currently will not be impacted by change to unlimited long distance.
Are Multiple Dwelling Unit rates increasing (Apartments)?
Currently no rate increases have been approved for Multiple Dwelling Units.
I live in Multiple Dwelling Unit. Why am I not getting advertised internet speed?
WindomNet provides best effort service. Multiple Dwelling Units may not receive the full speed due to internal wiring, multiple users, or other factors.
Are there any changes to Vacation rates?
No changes have been made to vacation rates. Putting your service on Vacation will not affect your service pricing structure.
Can I make changes to my calling features if I have the old phone/voice package?
Yes. Changing phone features will not affect your grandfathered pricing for phone service.
What is the cost for adding a second residential line to my phone service?
The $30.00 Phone Packages is available if the phone line should have free long-distance and calling features. Otherwise, additional phone lines can be added for $14.45.
