The City of Windom, Division of Emergency Management is responsible for developing and implementing emergency plans for response to various emergencies such as tornadoes, flooding, hazardous materials spills, etc., that affects the citizens of Windom.
The Division of Emergency Management also coordinates planning and training sessions with Cottonwood County Emergency Management, to plan, prepare for and mitigate disasters, and coordinate the response of emergencies and resources from the local, county, state and federal levels.
The City Emergency Management Director coordinates planning, response, and mitigation efforts for major disasters, or events that the City of Windom can not handle by itself, such as flooding, tornado damage, hazardous materials spills/leaks, etc.
The Emergency Management Director also works closely with officials from the County level Emergency Management, Minnesota State Homeland Security and Emergency Management; as well as the Federal Department of Homeland Security.
