The Tree Commission was established by the Mayor and approved by the City Council in 2009.

This Commission addresses the issues caused by tree diseases and pests (such as the Emerald Ash Bore).  The Tree Commission works closely with the Parks Department and is staffed by the Streets and Parks Superintendent.  There are six members of the Tree Commission and one City Council liaison.  Duties of the Tree Commission are to update the City’s standards for removing damaged or diseased trees, determine standards for tree planting, identifying preferred species and promoting the planting and/or replacing of trees throughout the community.

Beginning in the Spring of 2013 the Windom Tree Commission will again offer the Boulevard Tree Program.

This program is for residential property owners only. People signing up for the program agree to water the trees on a weekly basis during the growing season. ONLY $25 for a 6′ to 8′ potted tree (planted for you!)
