Public Nuisance Complaint Form
City Code Chapter 90 defines “nuisances” relating to health and safety particularly in the outdoor areas of residential and commercial properties. A copy of Chapter 90 can be accessed on the City’s website under “City Government” – “Code of Ordinances”, or you may review a copy at the City Hall or public library.
The nuisances most commonly reported to the City include accumulations of bags of garbage, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, discarded lumber and other used building and roofing materials, discarded furniture and flooring, appliances, mattresses, tires and other vehicle parts, TVs and electronic equipment, tall grass and weeds, etc. in yards on residential properties.
If you observe what you believe is a public nuisance and the nuisance has been situated on a residential or commercial property for a period of time (other than during the spring cleanup period), you can submit a Complaint to the City.
The Complaint form should be printed and completed.
You need to include your name and address as “Complainant” and also sign the form. This information and the signature of the Complainant are required for the complaint to be valid.
The City does not release the names of the Complainants.
The completed complaint form should be either delivered to the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall (444 Ninth Street) or mailed to: City Clerk’s Office, P. O. Box 38, Windom, MN 56101.
