The City of Windom will be conducting a Special Archery City Deer Hunt. If you are interested in this Special Permit hunting opportunity, and are at least 18 years of age, you must attend a hunter archery skills proficiency test session that the City will be conducting, date to be determined. You are required to submit the registration , along with a $20 administrative fee, prior to the archery skills proficiency test. No walk-ins will be accepted. Permits will be offered to eligible hunters based on proficiency test score ranking. The 15 successful permit holders will be required to pay a $20 fee to participate in the hunt and take up to two deer. Payment must be received prior to site assignment.
Thank you for your interest in the 2023 City of Windom Deer Control Program. With the assistance of the local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) office, Windom has developed a controlled archery hunt to be conducted in designated areas. A general description of the 2023 program follows:
- Hunting will be by Special Permit only and a total of 15 permits will be issued.
- The program will be conducted between September 16th and December 31st.
- Portable tree stands supplied by the hunter will be required, and specific hunting sites determined by the City will be assigned.
- Participants must purchase a Regular Archery License. The Windom hunt is under a Special Deer Hunt regulation. Two antlerless deer maybe harvested. See 2023 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations.
All Minnesota hunting regulations will be enforced. The City of Windom and DNR will also provide hunters with a list of program regulations that will be in effect. Applicants that have received any Big Game or Fish violations in the prior three years are ineligible to participate in the Windom Special Deer Hunt. Any violation prior to July 1, 2018 will not be cause for ineligibility. Windom Police Department reserves the right to deny applicants as necessary.
